Commuter Line Information for Cakung Station

Klender is a stop on the Blue Commuter Line which connects Jakarta Kota Station (in the ‘old town’ colonial area of West Jakarta) to Cikarang Station (southeast of Jakarta).

It is the 12th station south of Jakarta Kota Station and the 6th station from the Cikarang terminal end of the Blue Line.

Due to its closer proximity to Cikarang, you can expect it to be faster to reach Cakung Station from that end of the line, opposed to Jakarta Kota.

If you start at Jakarta Kota (Kota Tua) and you intend to reach Cakung Station, expect it to take about 1 hour.

In the opposite direction, expect it to take anywhere from 39 minutes to 50 minutes to get from Cikarang to Cakung Station.

Consider these times as basic approximations because they will surely vary depending on what train you board, how many stops it makes and how many passengers get on and off at each station along the way.

Transfer Information for Cakung Station

Cakung Station is not one of the transfer stations within the commuter network.

Instead, you can travel along the Blue Line towards central Jakarta and stop at either Jatinegara or Manggarai.

Jatinegara Station is four stations to the west on the Blue Line relative to Cakung Station. You can transfer between the Blue Line and Yellow Line there.

Jatinegara Station is popular with shoppers due to the markets within walking distance of the station. Travelling north on the Yellow (Bogor-Jatinegara Line) will allow you to access Pasar Senen and Kampung Bandan.

Manggarai Station is one station past Jatinegara. It is one of the busiest stations in the entire commuter network because three lines intersect there: the Blue, Yellow and Red Lines.

Once you arrive at Manggarai Station from Cakung Station you will be able to access popular stations such as Bogor, Nambo or Depok by travelling south.

If you continue travelling east beyond Manggarai Station, you will reach Tanah Abang – an area famous amongst Jakartans for plenty of markets and textile shops.

The next closest station to Cakung Station on the Blue Line towards central Jakarta is Klender Baru. The distance between Cakung and Klender Baru is about 1.4 km.

If you want to travel in the opposite direction from Cakung Station away from central Jakarta, the next closest station is Kranji. The distance between Cakung and Kranji is about 3.1 km. Needless to say, expect it to take about double as long to reach Kranji than Klender Baru according to these distances.

What is located around Stasiun Cakung in Jakarta?

Due to its location well outside of central Jakarta, the area around Stasiun Cakung isn’t particularly well known for attractions or popular internationally branded hotels.

Instead, you will find a mixture of residential neighbourhoods, local stores and large commercial office space.

There is a large bus station called Terminal Bus Terpadu Sentra Timur Pulo Gebang about 1.1 km north of Cakung Station. You can either walk there or drive there from the station. If you are driving, expect it to take only about 5 minutes.

Due to the lack of shopping malls and major tourist attractions around the station, there is also very few quality hotels nearby.
