Maja Station, also known as Stasiun Maja in Bahasa Indonesia, is a commuter station located in Serang, Banten.

It is quite far outside of Jakarta, about 57 km southwest of the Monas (in central Jakarta).

Commuter Line Information for Maja Station

Maja is a station on the Green Commuter Line which services trains from Rangkasbitung Station (about 85 km southwest of the Monas) all the way to Tanah Abang Station (about 3 km southwest of the Monas).

If you start at Tanah Abang Station, then Maja is the 16th station along the line. It is much closer to the Rangkasbitung Station end of the line.

If you travel from Rangkasbitung towards Jakarta, it is the 2nd station on the Green Line.

If start from Tanah Abang and travel to Maja Station the travel time will differ depending on what train you get on.

The train with the fewest number of stops will take you about 1 hour. The travel time can extend up to 1 hour and 27 minutes if you board a train with more frequent stops along the way.  

Transfer Information for Maja Station

You cannot access other commuter lines directly at Maja Station. This is because it is located so far away from Jakarta.

You can access the Yellow Line by travelling north east to Tanah Abang Station.

From there you can travel south on the Yellow Line to destinations such as Depok, Nambo and Bogor.

Alternatively, travelling north on the Yellow Line and looping around will get you close to Kota Tua, Ancol, Mangga Dua, Pasar Senen and Jatinegara.

If you are at Maja Station and you plan on travelling towards Tanah Abang on the Green Line, the next closest station will be Cikoya.

The distance between these two stations is approximately 1.8 km.

Alternatively, if you travel from Maja Station towards Rangkasbitung Station, the next station will be Citeras.

The distance between Maja and Citeras is about 7.3 km.

Based on these distances you can expect it take significantly longer to reach Citeras opposed to Cikoya if you are starting your trip at Maja.

What is located around Stasiun Maja?

Stasiun Maja is far from central Jakarta.

Do not expect much in terms of major tourist attractions or developed infrastructure around the station.

There are a few things that you might want to check out if you are in this area, however.

About 200 meters south west of the station you visit a nice body of water called Situ Cicinta.

Alternatively, if you walk in the opposite direction from the station, you will be able to visit Pasar Maja – a local market.

You will find it challenging to find hotels near Stasiun Maja. This is mainly because this is a rural, undeveloped area. There are a few local hotels near Rangkasbitung Station that you can access from the Green Line.

Alternatively, you will have to travel closer to Jakarta to select from more quality accommodation options.
