Angke Station, referred to as Stasiun Angke in Bahasa Indonesia is a commuter station in west Jakarta.
It is located just outside of central Jakarta, about 6.5 km northwest of the Monas (Indonesia’s National Monument). Stasiun Angke is situated about 2 km southwest of Chinatown and Pasar Glodok.
Commuter Line Information: Angke Station
Angke Station is a stop on the Yellow Line of Jakarta’s commuter system. In case you have never used the commuter network before, the Yellow Line is also referred to as the ‘loop line’.
It is called the loop line because the eastern portion of the line originates at Jatinegara Station and then ‘loops around’ Ancol, Kota Tua and Tanah Abang.
If you stay on the Yellow Line it will connect you to Bogor, Nambo and Depok which are all located south of Jakarta.
Transfer Information: Angke Station
Angke is not a transfer station on Jakarta’s commuter system.
It is, however, situated between two transfer stations: Duri and Kampung Bandan.
Duri Station is located 3.62 km south of Angke. You can take the Yellow Line directly south from Angke to Duri to access the Brown Commuter Line to Tangerang.
Kampung Bandan Station is the closest station northeast of Stasiun Angke. You can travel around 4.1 km northeast on the commuter to reach Kampung Bandan.
While at Kampung Bandan you can transfer to the Pink (Jakarta Kota – Tanjung Priok Line). This is a strategic line if you want to visit the old Dutch colonial area of Jakarta (Kota Tua) or Ancol (a massive theme park) located along the waterfront.
What is located around Stasiun Angke in Jakarta?
Stasiun Angke is located in West Jakarta but it is still close enough to Jakarta’s central main attractions.
The closest main attractions to the station are Kota Tua (Taman Fatahillah) and Chinatown.
Chinatown is located only about 2 km east of Stasiun Angke. This is one of the busiest, but most interesting areas to explore in Jakarta. It is still very much a functioning marketplace.
Kota Tua is about a 3.5 km drive northeast of Stasiun Angke. This is one of Jakarta’s most popular places to visit for both foreign and international tourists. Aside from colonial architecture, you will also find a range of museums. Taman Fatahillah, is the central heart of Kota Tua. It is the central square.
You can relax at some of the hip cafes while seeing people from all over the world walk and bike around the square.
You can also visit the Monas and the National Museum if you are staying at a hotel near Angke Station. The drive is about 6 km from the station to the Monas area.
If you want to explore more local life around the station, check out the two traditional markets nearby: Pasar Kampung Bebek and Pasar Jembatan Dua. Don’t expect to find the cleanest markets, but you will see lots of fruits vegetables and meats. The best time to visit is early in the morning.
Other noteworthy places you may want to explore include Tanah Abang Market (take the Yellow Line to Tanah Abang Station) and Seasons City Mall.
