Jatinegara Station in Jakarta is a popular stop on two of Jakarta’s popular commuter lines, the Yellow Line and the Blue Line.
The Yellow Line eventually connects this station, Jatinegara, with Bogor, Depok and Nambo in the south. It is the terminal station of the Yellow Line in the north whereas the Bogor, Depok and Nambo are all terminal stations south of Jakarta.
Jatinegara Station is also a stop on the Blue line, but it isn’t a terminal station. The Blue Line connects Kota Tua Station in the north to Bekasi and Cikarang in the south.

Since Jatinegara Station is a stop on both the Yellow Line and the Blue Line it allows passengers to transfer between them.
If you are travelling north towards Pasar Senen and Ancol for instance on the Yellow Line, then the next station is Pondok Jati Station. The distance between Jatinegara Station and Pondok Jati Station is about 1.2 kilometers.
Alternatively, ff you are heading south towards Bekasi or Cikarang on the Blue Line then the next closest station to Jatinegara is Klender Station. The distance between Jatinegara Station and Klender Station is around 3.3 kilometers.
If you are travelling northeast on the Blue Line towards Kota Tua and the Monas then the next station is Manggarai Station. Manggarai Station is about 2.7 kilometers away from Jatinegara Station.
Insider Tip: If you are at Jatinegara Station and you want to travel to Depok, Bogor, or Nambo on the Yellow line, be sure to use the Blue Line from Jatinegara to Manggarai Station.
Once at Manggarai Station, you can transfer to the Yellow Line and then travel south on the Yellow Line to Bogor, Depok, and Nambo. This will help you to avoid a long, unnecessary route on the Yellow ‘loop’ Line in northern Jakarta.
What is located around Stasiun Jatinegara?
Stasiun Jatinegara is not directly located in an area of Jakarta that is particularly well known for international tourist attractions.
But don’t be fooled by this.
There are some really interesting local markets that are within walking distance of the station. The issue here is that many people simply don’t know about them.
The, Jakarta Gem Center – locally known as Pasar Rawa Bening is a really interesting place to explore. Conveniently, pretty much right across the road from Stasiun Jatinegara. You should be able to walk there in under 5 minutes.
Pasar Rawa Bening is not the only market within walking distance of the station.
Jatinegara Market (locally known as Pasar Jatinegara) is also about a 10 minute walk from the station. It’s around 800 meters from Jatinegara Station. If you want to check out both of these markets, then it makes sense to first see the Jakarta Gems Center and then visit Jatinegara Market afterwards.
Pasar Mester, another shopping area, is about 400 meters southwest of Jatinegara Market.
The general area around Jatinegara Station (Stasiun Jatinegara) is pretty interesting. You will find lots of streetside merchants selling everything from refurbished shoes to watches among other things.
Most visitors to the city would most likely find Senayan much more preferable in terms of comfortable shopping and accommodation options, however.
