Pondok Jati Station is a stop on Jakarta’s Yellow commuter Line that connects Jatinegara Station in east Jakarta, with Bogor, Depok and Nambo in the south.

Pondok Pondok Jati Station is the second stop on the Yellow Line north of Jatinegara Station.

It is not possible to transfer between commuter lines directly at Pondok Jati Station.

Instead, you should travel one station south to Jatinegara Station. At Jatinegara Station you can change to the Blue Commuter Line which services trains to Kota Tua (in the north) and Bekasi (in the south).  

If you want to transfer to the Red Commuter Line then go to Jatinegara Station and then travel west one station to Manggarai Station.

Stasiun Pondok Jati isn’t particularly well known for attractions. It is located in a congested area of east Jakarta.

The station is primarily surrounded by residential neighbourhoods and some small local shops and restaurants.

One of the closest shopping centers to Pondok Jati Station is Pasaraya Manggarai, but this is actually closer to Manggarai Station opposed to Pondok Jati.

If you travel one station south of Stasiun Pondok Jati to Jatinegara Station, you can easily check out some local markets. Some of the best t explore include the Jakarta Gem Market and Pasar Jatinegara. Both of these are walking distance from the station.

It is probably a more practical decision to stay west of Pondok Jati Station (closer to central Jakarta) when you are visiting the city.

You will find more restaurants, malls and attractions to check out. There are very few 4 or 5 star hotels near Pondok Jati Station. Instead, there are mainly 2 and 3 star properties nearby.  

A few of them include: Sentral Hotel (2.4 km/ 10 minutes driving), Balairung Hotel (3.6 km/ 20 minutes driving), RedDoorz near Pramuka (350 m/ 4 minutes walk), Mega Matra Hotel (650 m/ 8 minutes driving) and Pax Hotel Matraman (800 m/ 10 minutes walk).

You will find much better accommodation choices closer to Kuningan, Sudirman, and Menteng in comparison to the direct area around Pondok Jati Station. You might find some of the hotels near Kota Kasablanka such as The Park Lane Jakarta and the The Westin Jakarta to be much more comfortable and within walking distance to various malls and restaurants.
