Commuter Line Information for Pondok Ranji Station

Pondok Ranji Station is part of the Green Line commuter line.

This line services trains from Tanah Abang Station to Rangkasbitung Station.

Tanah Abang Station is located in a busy market area in central Jakarta whereas Rangkasbitung Station at the other side of the Green Line is situated outside of the city, about 85 km to the southwest of the Monas and its surrounding attractions.

If you are starting at Tanah Abang Station and travelling towards Rangkasbitung Station, then Pondok Ranji is technically the third station on the line.

Transfer Information for Pondok Ranji Station

It isn’t possible to change commuter lines at Pondok Ranji Station. This is not a transfer station due to its location outside of Jakarta.

To access the next closest transfer station in the commuter network, travel in the direction of central Jakarta to Tanah Abang Station.

When you arrive at Tanah Abang Station you can transfer to the Yellow (Bogor-Jatinegara) Line.

Tanah Abang is famous for markets, and with two commuter lines converging there (the Yellow and Green Line). It is often a very busy station in the network.

Many passengers use the Yellow Line to bypass road construction and heavy road traffic while travelling southern to destinations such as Bogor, Nambo and Depok. You will most likely encounter very busy trains during peak, rush hour periods so be prepared.

Travel north of Tanah Abang (on the Yellow Line) to reach totally different areas of Jakarta.

You can go to Ancol by travelling on the Yellow Line to Kampung Bandan Station. You can transfer to the Pink Line to access the theme park from there.

If you stay on the Yellow Line until it loops around to east Jakarta, you will be able to access popular market areas such as Jatinegara and Pasar Senen. You can easily walk to both of these markets from their respective stations.

Closest Stations to Pondok Ranji

The closest station to Pondok Ranji Station if you are travelling towards Tanah Abang on the Green Line is Kebayoran Station.

They are about 6.2 km away from one another which is quite far compared to the distance between most stations in the system.

If you are travelling out of the city towards Rangkasbitung Station, the next station you will come across is called Jurang Mangu Station.

These two stations are only 2.2 km away from one another.

Therefore, expect it to take almost three times as long to reach Kebayoran Station than Jurang Mangu Station if you are originating at Pondok Ranji Station.

What is located around Stasiun Pondok Ranji?

Stasiun Pondok Ranji is located quite far from central Jakarta and most of the major attractions in the city. Therefore, don’t expect too many sightseeing opportunities around the station.

There is, however, a mall called Bintaro Plaza that is within walking distance to the station.

Once you arrive at the station you can either or walk or drive about 700 meters northeast from the station and you will arrive at Bintaro Plaza. It should only take you about 10 minutes to get there.

If you are looking for a local, traditional market, then there is one about 1.1 km southeast of the station called Pasar Modern Bintaro Sektor 2. Expect local fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood and some local goods.

The area around Stasiun Pondok Ranji isn’t particularly well known for accommodation choices.

Most visitors to the city would prefer to stay closer to Palmerah or Kebayoran Station because there are more hotel choices in those areas.
