Tambun Commuter Station in Bekasi

Tambun Station, also called Stasiun Tambun in Bahasa Indonesia, is a commuter station located approximately 30 km southeast of central Jakarta and the Monas.

As its name suggests, it is situated in Tambun, Bekasi.

Commuter Line Information for Tambun Station

It is a stop on the Blue Commuter Line – a line that has daily trains running from Jakarta Kota Station (located in Kota Tua) to Cikarang Station (far southeast of the Jakarta).

It is the 16th station south of Jakarta Kota Station and the 2nd station from the Cikarang terminal end of the Blue Line.

Due to Tambun Station’s proximity to Cikarang, you can expect it to be much quicker to reach Tambun from Cikarang opposed to the Kota Tua end of the Blue Line.

If you start at Kota Tua (Jakarta Kota Station) you should be able to reach Tambun Station in about 1 hour and 24 minutes.

Alternatively, if you start at the other end of the Blue Line at Cikarang, it should take you only about 20 minutes to get to Tambun.

Transfer Information for Tambun Station

If you want to transfer to another commuter line other than the Blue Line, you won’t be able to do so at Tambun Station.

Instead, you will have to travel back in the direction of Jakarta and stop at either Jatinegara or Manggarai Station.

If you get off at Jatinegara, you can easily walk to either Jatinegara Market or the Jakarta Gem Market. If you want to transfer to the Yellow Line (Bogor-Jatinegara Line), you can access Pasar Senen to the north of Jatinegara Station.

One station beyond Jatinegara is Manggarai Station. This is arguable the most strategic of all stations in the commuter network because it allows passengers to transfer between the Blue, Red and Yellow Lines. It is also one of the busiest.

By travelling south from there you will be able to visit destinations such as Bogor, Nambo or Depok.

If you are beginning your trip at Tambun Station and you decide to travel on the Blue Line towards Jakarta Kota Station, the next closest station will be Bekasi Timur Station.

The distance between Tambun and Bekasi Timur is about 3.4 km.

In the opposite direction from Tambun Station towards Cikarang, the closest station is Cibitung. The distance between Tambun and Cibitung is also 3.4 km.

Since the distances between Tambun and its neighbouring stations are the same, you can expect it to take about the same amount of time to reach either one of them.

What is located around Stasiun Tambun?

The area around Stasiun Tambun primarily consists of residential neighbourhoods to the north and east, manufacturing factories to the west, and some markets and local shops to the south.

For most people arriving at Tambun Station, the most interesting place to check out is Pasar Tambun – a traditional local market that has plenty of fruits, vegetable and meats to choose from.

It is conveniently located only about 400 meters south of Tambun Station. You can easily walk to the market from the station in under 10 minutes.

Another market that you might want to check out is called Market Place Grand Wisata. It is farther from the station. It is about 3.5 km south of Tambun Station, so driving is probably your best option.

Since a lot of the space around Tambun Station is used for industrial purposes, you won’t find too much else in terms of sites of interest here.
