Kemayoran Station, referred to as Stasiun Kemayoran in Bahasa Indonesia is a commuter station located in central Jakarta. It is only about 1 km east of Pasar Baru and 2.5 kilometers northeast of the Monas.

Kemayoran Station is a stop on Jakarta’s Yellow commuter Line that connects Jatinegara Station in east Jakarta, with Bogor, Depok and Nambo in the south. The Yellow Line is also called the ‘loop line’ in Jakarta by local commuters.

Kemayoran Station is the sixth stop on the Yellow Line north of Jatinegara Station.

Transfer Information for Kemayoran Station

You cannot transfer between commuter lines at Kemayoran Station. This is because it is only a stop on the Yellow Line, but not the other commuter lines.

There are still some options if you wish to travel to Jakarta Kota Station or to Bogor, Depok and Nambo in the south, however.

You can reach Jakarta Kota Station by either taking the Yellow Line two stations north to Kampung Bandan Station and then transferring to the Pink Line, or by walking 1.5 kilometers west to Juanda Station.  From Juanda Station simply take the Blue or Red Line four stations north to Jakarta Kota Station.

If you want to travel to Depok, Nambo or Bogor in the south from Kemayoran Station then you have two choices.  You can either walk to Juanda Station and take either the Red or Yellow Line south or you can take the commuter south to Jatinegara Station.

From there transfer to Manggarai Station and head south.

What is located around Kemayoran Station in Jakarta?

Kemayoran Station is located in a pretty convenient area in Jakarta if you are interested in sightseeing or conducting business in the city center.

It is only a few kilometers away from the Monas.

This makes popular attractions such as the National Gallery of Indonesia, Gedung Pancasila, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral, Museum of National Awakening all accessible by arranging a short drive. If you leave early in the morning or late afternoon, you might even enjoy walking to them.

The closest major attraction to Kemayoran Station is Pasar Baru. It should only take you about 10 minutes to walk the 1 kilometer from Kemayoran Station to the market area.

Pasar Baru is quite famous in Jakarta with an interesting painting market, textile shops and local eateries.

Also don’t forget that the next station south of Kemayoran Station is Pasar Senen. If you take the commuter one station south, you will be able to access the traditional markets in Pasar Senen. They are located only about 300 meters southwest of Pasar Senen Station.

Due to its strategic location, Kemayoran Station also isn’t too far from interesting areas such as Thamrin, Glodok, Menteng and Cikini.

Some of the accommodation options right near Kemayoran Station are a bit worn out and older. But there are still a few reasonably priced properties that are close by like Red Planet Pasar Baru Jakarta (1.2 km/15 minute walk) Ibis Jakarta Kemayoran (350 m/5 minute walk) favehotel Pasar Baru (1 km/12 minute walk). These three properties are all in the 3-star range.

Many visitors to the city prefer to be either a bit closer to the Monas or Chinatown which makes it a bit easier to access both Kota Tua and Thamrin.  Some other popular accommodation choices closer to the Monas and Glodok include Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, Alila Jakarta Hotel, HARRIS Vertu Hotel Harmoni, and YELLO Hotel Harmoni.

Of these, HARRIS Vertu Hotel Harmoni and YELLO Hotel Harmoni are particularly nice new modern choices that are well-priced and very positively reviewed by guests.

Kemayoran Station is in a pretty good location in Jakarta.  If you want to be even closer to all the tourist sites then try to stay a bit closer to the Monas, which is southwest of the station.
