Rangkasbitung Station, also called Stasiun Rangkasbitung in Bahasa Indonesia, is a commuter station located in Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, Banten.

It is quite well known within the Jakarta transportation network because the Green Commuter Line is also called the “Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang Line.”

Commuter Line Information for Rangkasbitung Station

Rangkasbitung and Tanah Abang are the terminal stations on the Green Line.

The Tanah Abang end of the line is close to central Jakarta (only about 3 km away from the Monas) whereas Rangkasbitung Station is around 85 km to the south west of central Jakarta.

There are 17 commuter stations between Tanah Abang and Rangkasbitung. Therefore, the time it takes to reach Rangkasbitung from Tanah Abang can differ depending on which train you board and how many stops it makes.  

If you travel from Tanah Abang to Rangkasbitung Station you can expect it to take anywhere from 1 hour and 25 minutes to 2 hours. This of course will depend on which train you board, what time you want to go, how many people are getting off at each station and how many stops the train will make.

Although Rangkasbitung Station is considered to be the terminal station on the Green Line, technically there are trains that continue beyond Rangkasbitung enroute to Serang and other destinations in the northwest corner of Java.

Therefore, it is possible to keep going after Rangkasbitung.

Transfer Information for Rangkasbitung Station

If you want to reach the next transfer station on the commuter network, then you will have to travel north east to Tanah Abang. This means that you will have to travel all the way along the Green Line before you can access other commuter trains.

From Tanah Abang you can access the Yellow (Bogor – Jatinegara) Line.

The Yellow Line services trains to Bogor, Nambo and Depok to the south, whereas travelling north and looping around will get you close to Kota Tua, Ancol, Mangga Dua, Pasar Senen and Jatinegara.

If you begin at Rangkasbitung Station and you want to go to Tanah Abang on the Green Line, then the next closest station is Citeras Station.

The distance between Citeras and Rangkasbitung is about 9.8 km.

If you want to keep going beyond Rangkasbitung Station, you will notice that the rail line takes a sharp turn to the north enroute to other destinations in the north west corner of Java.

If you travel in this direction, the next closest station will be Jambu Baru.

The distance between Rangkasbitung and Jambu Baru is about 8 km and this should take you about 12 minutes on train.

What is located around Stasiun Rangkasbitung?

The immediate area around Stasiun Rangkasbitung is one of the most developed when you compare it to some of the other stations on the Green Commuter Line.

You can find some restaurants, hotels and shopping centers not too far from the station.

About 450 meters south of Stasiun Rangkasbitung is a shopping center called Mall Rabinza.

You can easily walk there in only 5-6 minutes.

If you continue in the same direction (south) past the mall you will also find a small public park called Taman Hati Rangkasbitung. It is only about 200 meters past the mall.

Also south of the station you will find Alun-Alun Rangkasbitung (a public park), and a few Dutch historical landmarks such as Watee Toren 1931 and Douwes Dekker Huis.

Directly to the west of Stasiun Rangkasbitung there is a local market called Pasar Tradisional Rangkasbitung. It is only 300 meters away from the station and you can walk there in only 3-4 minutes.

Even though the area around Rangkasbitung Station does have some development, there are still only a few hotels to choose from, and at the time of writing they were not listed on popular booking sites like Agoda and Booking.com.

Some of their names are Hotel Wijaya, Hotel Bumi Katineung, Hotel Teratai and Wisma Sugri.

Since these are not internationally branded hotels, expect basic amenities and service standards.

If you are looking for 4 and 5-star properties with higher service standards, consider travelling closer to central Jakarta.
