Stasiun MRT – Bundaran HI Accommodation Information

Stasiun Bundaran HI or Bundaran HI Station is arguably the most convenient station along the entire MRT Line for finding high quality accommodation options.

The station is located within walking distance to three of Jakarta’s most popular shopping malls: Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia and Thamrin City. Consequently, if you stay near Bundaran HI MRT station you will be within walking distance to these three shopping options.

Since this is the northernmost station that is currently open you will also have the best access to the Monas, Chinatown and Kota Tua in comparison to the other stations along the line. This is undoubtedly one of the best and most popular areas to stay for domestic tourists and international tourists visiting the city.

This area does have sidewalks and road crossings unlike many other areas of the city.

It is also an added bonus to check out Jakarta’s Car-Free Sunday mornings if you stay near Bundaran HI MRT Station. You literally can walk out right from your room and go for a jog without any traffic.

In general, the hotels in this area of Jakarta tend to be in the four to five star range. Therefore, you can expect a safe and convenient environment, but be prepared to pay a good dollar for these accommodation options.

Top Recommendations for Staying Close to Bundaran HI MRT Station in Jakarta

As you can see from the list above, there are approximately five or six five-star hotels right near Bundaran HI Station. Of these, we suggest trying out the The Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta (240 m/ 4 minutes walk) or the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta (300 m/ 5 minutes walk).

Both of these properties consistently within the top 10 5-star properties in Jakarta with review scores often above 9/10 on major booking sites such as Agoda. Expect beautiful bedrooms, large bathrooms and impressive morning breakfast buffets.

They both overlook Bundaran HI, one of the most iconic roundabouts in Jakarta with the Selamat Datang Monument centered in the middle.

Budget to Mid-Range

You will notice a  substantial decline in the quality of accommodation options as you go towards the budget range.

This area is known for five star hotels.

But if you do want to be close to Bundaran HI MRT station then you might want to try RedDoorz Plus near Plaza Indonesia (700 m/ 10 minutes walk). It receives review scores in the 7.5/10 range and it is located very close to Plaza Indonesia. Very convenient for shopping and eating out.

This is not the best area in Jakarta for budget accommodation options, so you may want to choose a 5-star here or stay in another area like Gajah Mada if you want clean, modern mid-range to budget hotel options.

Stasiun MRT – Dukuh Atas Accommodation Information

Stasiun MRT Dukuh Atas is probably the most integrated of all the MRT Stations in terms of accessing other forms of train transport. This makes it a very convenient place to stay if you want stress-free access to the Commuter System and the Airport Railink.

Once you land at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, it’s possible to make it to Dukuh Atas MRT Station without even stepping foot in a car! Simply take the Railink from the airport to BNI Station. Then, walk approximately 550 meters (5 minutes) to Dukuh Atas from there.

You can also access Sudirman Station which is part of the Yellow Commuter Line from Dukuh Atas MRT Station. Sudirman is about a 5 minute walk to the southeast of Dukuh Atas. This is very strategic for commuters who rely on the Yellow Line for daily transportation south to areas such as Bogor, Nambo and Depok.

The hotel selection around Dukuh Atas MRT Station may not be quite as good as Bundaran HI.

You will find more three and four-star options here in comparison to the 5-star Bundaran HI area. Most of the properties tend to receive review scores around 7.5/10 on major booking sites whereas the hotels around Bundaran HI score above 8.5/10.

It is more convenient accessing trains from Dukuh Atas, but you will have more convenient access to top quality hotels and shopping malls near Bundaran HI. If you are going to stay near Stasiun MRT Dukuh Atas you should consider staying at the Shangri-La. It is about 1 km southwest of the station.

It has a large pool, a nice gym facility, and excellent spa and impressive breakfast menus.

Top Recommendations for Staying Close to Dukuh Atas MRT Station in Jakarta

You won’t find nearly as many luxury options around Dukuh Atas as Bundaran HI. But the closest 5-star property to the station is the Shangri-La. It is a well managed property with a nice outdoor area at the back of the hotel. You can expect high service standards here. The gym facility is large and the spa is impressive.

It currently rates about 8.8/10 on major booking sites such as Agoda.

It is safe to say that the Shangri-La Hotel ranks amongst the top 10-15 5-star properties in Jakarta.

Budget to Mid-Range

It is always challenging to find really affordable options right in the centre of a nation’s capital city – Jakarta is no exception. Therefore, you are better off going mid-range here opposed to rock bottom.

The All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin Hotel (130 m/ 2 minutes walk) and the Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin (120 m/ 1 minutes walk) are probably the best two budget-to mid-range properties near Dukuh Atas MRT Station.

Both of these are super close to the station. The All Seasons is rated as a 4-star and the Holiday Inn a 3-star. They receive similar review scores online around 7.8/10.

They are by no means Jakarta’s best properties in their respective price ranges, but they are above average and very convenient for the price (often around $50-60 USD equivalent).

Stasiun MRT – Setiabudi Accommodation Information

Setiabudi MRT Station is located right in the city center. The station is situated right in the vicinity of many large business towers and apartment complexes. It is conveniently located if you are doing business in Jakarta’s central business area.

If you compare Setiabudi’s location to Bundaran HI, it is not as convenient for sightseeing. If you stay near Setiabudi you will be farther from the Monas, Chinatown, and Kota Tua – three of Jakarta’s major attractions.  

The area around Stasiun MRT Setiabudi has a distant business feel to it. So, if you are doing business that’s great, but it doesn’t feel like an area for sightseeing. You will find sidewalks for walking in this area.

We suggest staying at Bundaran HI instead unless you have business to conduct in this specific area of Jakarta. There are some well-priced properties near Setiabudi, so you may want to compare prices here and the other areas before booking.

The closest mall to Setiabudi MRT Station is Citywalk Sudirman.

Sun Rise House (1.1 km/ 16 minutes walk) is a nice little budget option that is about 1 km away from the station. This is by no means a fancy property. But, it rates about 8.3/10 on booking sites and gets good reviews for service. It is a practical option if you want a central location for a good price.

Stasiun MRT – Bendungan Hilir Accommodation Information

Bendungan Hilir MRT or Stasiun Benhil for short is located in an area of central Jakarta that appears similar to Stasiun MRT Setiabudi. Expect a business-focused environment with large office towers and some tall apartment buildings scattered around the station. Since this is a newer area of the city, you will find sidewalks along the main roads here.

The World Trade Center complex as well as Sampoerna Strategic Square are two noteworthy towers near Benhil Station.

This it not the most tourist oriented area along the North-South MRT Line. But, if you get a good price on a room near the station, it is very easy to take the MRT to either Bundaran HI MRT Station or Senayan MRT Station where you can find more shopping options and more convenient access to tourist attractions.

The two closest shopping malls to Bendungan Hilir Station are Citywalk Sudirman and Plaza Semanggi.

There are some overpasses near this station and some major roads. Therefore, driving times from the station often taking longer than they appear on maps. The accommodation options around Stasiun MRT – Bendungan Hilir are somewhat spread out and a bit farther from the station in comparison to Bundaran HI for instance.

Jakarta’s top 5-star properties are not located within walking distance of Bendungan Hilir MRT Station. You are more likely to find the best luxury choices near Bundaran HI MRT Station or Senayan MRT Station.

Consequently, your decision where to stay near Bendungan Hilir Station comes down to convenience and personal preference.

Arguably the best rated 4-5-star near the station is the Le Meridien Jakarta Hotel. It is close to the station. It doesn’t get reviewed as positively as other ‘Le Meridien’ hotels as in many of Southeast Asia’s cities, but it still ranks above 8/10 on major booking sites.

It is also located very close to main road which makes driving to/from the hotel convenient as well.

It is challenging to find ‘high rated’ budget to mid-range choices downtown in Jakarta. This property receives review scores around 8/10 on average. It ranks quite high in terms of cleanliness and value for money on major booking sites.

Stasiun MRT – Istora Accommodation Information

Stasiun MRT Istora is one of the best areas for staying along Jakarta’s first MRT Line in terms of convenience and quality accommodation options.

It is named after the Bung Karno athletics park which right beside it. This makes the area around the station very convenient when athletics competitions are going on. The stadium within the park is also the venue for many international concerts taking place in Jakarta.

Fortunately, if you find a hotel close to Istora MRT Station you will also be able to walk to various shopping malls and major business towers as well.

Directly across from this MRT station is the Sudirman Central Business district. You can literally walk to the Indonesia Stock Exchange in one minute or less from the station. Some of Jakarta’s most popular malls are found in this area as well.

You can either walk or get a short drive to the following malls if you stay near Stasiun MRT Istora:

• Pacific Place
• Ratu Plaza
• Senayan City
• Plaza Senayan

Most of the hotels near Istora are in the 4 and 5-star range. This ranks as one of the most popular and best areas in Jakarta for international tourists to stay in the city. Bundaran HI MRT Station and Senayan MRT Station are the only other stations that could be more popular with foreign tourists.

There are nice sidewalks in this area of Jakarta making it one of the best areas for walking with children. The area around Pacific Place is particularly well developed.

You will find that most of the hotels in this area get high review scores from guests. The competition and service standards are quite high.

There are two luxury 5-star properties near Istora MRT Station that easily rank as two of the top 10 hotels (possibly top 5) in the entire city:

The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place (750 m/ 10 minutes walk)

Fairmont Jakarta Hotel (1.8 km/ 5 minutes driving)

Of these two properties the Ritz is closer and more convenient to access from the MRT Station. This property is also located in the very same building as Pacific Place (one of Jakarta’s nicest shopping malls).

Coincidentally, both the Ritz and Fairmont receive almost identical guest review scores.

For instance, at the time of writing they both have 9.1/10 ratings on Agoda. When you choose from these two properties it really comes down to personal preference. Overall, it’s hard to argue that the Ritz is in a more convenient location for visitors conducting business and those interested in accessing the MRT network.

Budget to Mid-Range

Similar to Bundaran HI, the area around Istora MRT Station mainly consists of 4 and 5-star properties.  You will have a hard time finding quality budget options here that are clean, safe and convenient.

We suggest sticking to one of the more affordable options close to the station even if it costs a bit more per night.

One of the most convenient hotels right beside Stasiun Istora is HARRIS Suites fX Sudirman. It is only a 350 m/3 minute walk from the station.

It also receives positive reviews from guests (with average review scores around 8.1/10). Harris Suites is also physically attached to a nice little shopping mall called fX Sudirman. You can stay at the hotel and easily access stores and a nice selection of restaurants in less than two minutes. This will also help you to avoid unnecessary drives in Jakarta’s traffic.

Keep in mind that both Harris Suites and fX Sudirman are located directly beside the entrance to Bung Karno the largest athletics park in Jakarta. You can stay here to watch professional sporting events and concerts taking place there.

Stasiun MRT – Senayan Accommodation Information

Stasiun Senayan is located only about 800 meters southwest of Stasiun Istora. You can walk between the stations in under 10 minutes. Because of their proximity to each other, the accommodation information is quite similar for both of these MRT Stations.

The area around Senayan MRT Station is without question on of the best places to stay in Jakarta if you want to shop or conduct business in the city.

You will find no shortage of shopping in this area of Jakarta. Similar to Istora, you can walk to the following shopping malls from the station:

• fX Sudirman
• Pacific Place
• Ratu Plaza
• Senayan City
• Plaza Senayan

Stasiun Senayan is actually closer to Ratu Plaza, Plaza Senayan and Senayan City than Istora Station. You can walk to these in under five minutes from the station.

You can also walk to the Sudirman Central Business District from Senayan, although Istora Station is closer to the Indonesian Stock Exchange building.

An added benefit of staying at a hotel close to Senayan MRT Station is the proximity to Senopati. This is one of the best streets in all of Jakarta for dining out. Expect excellent international restaurants and pubs within a 5 minute drive from the station.

Don’t forget to bring your golf clubs if you are staying around Stasiun Senayan. Senayan Golf Club is located directly east of Senayan City.  

The Senayan area is also convenient if you want to access other southern areas of the city such as Blok M and Kebayoran.

If you want to stay close to Stasiun MRT – Senayan then we are going to recommend the same 5-star properties as Istora:

Pacific Place is without question farther from Senayan Station than Istora but it is still a short drive away. This is one of the top five, 5-star hotels in the entire city. It is also very convenient being attached to Pacific Place Mall and connected to the Stock Exchange.

You can easily drive south to Senopati from The Ritz to access some of the city’s best restaurants.

The Fairmont is located between Bung Karno and Senayan Golf Club. It is ideally located if you want to access Plaza Senayan, Bung Karno or the golf course.

We suggest comparing the prices of these two properties before you reserve your room. Occasionally, one place is much cheaper than the other. Normally, they are in the same price range.

Budget to Mid-Range

HARRIS Suites fX Sudirman is farther from Stasiun Senayan than Stasiun Istora, but it still probably the best mid-range option in this area.

With the development of this MRT line, you can expect that there will be more and more budget and mid-range options being developed in this area.

Stasiun MRT – Sisingamangaraja Accommodation Information

Stasiun MRT Sisingamangaraja in Jakarta is sort of located in a transition area between modern central Jakarta and Blok M.

It is south of Senayan Station and north of Blok M.

You won’t find too many hotels or shopping malls directly around this station. Therefore, for most visitors to Jakarta it is more practical to stay closer to Blok M MRT Station or Senayan MRT Station instead.

Blok M is one of the best shopping areas for budget products and cheap eateries. Senayan has more of an upscale feel to it because it beside the central business area. You should consider what your priorities are while you are planning your trip.

An interesting and positively reviewed property about 2.5 km away from Station MRT Sisingamangaraja is The Gunawarman (2.5 km/ 7 minutes driving). It has a nice colonial design and it gets excellent reviews from guests.

If you stay at this property you will be able to walk to various high-end restaurants in Senopati – one of Jakarta’s best dining districts with lots of restaurants to choose from.

It isn’t within walking distance to the station, but keep in mind that most properties are a short ride away.

Currently, at the time of writing, The Gunawarman has a guest review score of 8.7/10 which is excellent.

Budget to Mid-Range

Most of the two and 3-star properties in this area of Jakarta receive review scores below 8/10 on major booking sites. Many of them get scores around 7.4/10.

One of the better options within 1 km of Station MRT Sisingamangaraja is ZenRooms Blok M Palatehan (1 km/13 minutes walk). It currently has a review score of 7.8/10 which isn’t particularly high, but it is better than other hotels in its price range. It is also located just north of the shopping malls in Blok M which is convenient.

Stasiun MRT – Blok M Accommodation Information

Blok M is one of jakarta’s most popular budget shopping areas in Jakarta.  The area around Station Blok M may not have the polish Bundaran HI or Senayan have,  but you will find more affordable affordable accommodation options and shopping malls within walking distance of the station.

Blok M is also a good area to book your hotel room because it provides easy access to both South and Central Jakarta.  Unlike most of the MRT stations north of Blok M, the area here has way more budget hotels to choose from. Do not expect to see wide roads and spacious sidewalks in this part of Jakarta.  The buildings here are older and more dilapidated in comparison to those in the business district of the city.

Blok M is very popular because of the cluster of small, but affordable shopping malls located within walking distance of the MRT station.

You can find some of the cheapest products in Jakarta in Blok M.  It is a very popular area for local shoppers because the food choices here are also very affordable.

You can walk to the following malls from Stasiun MRT – Blok M within 5 minutes of the MRT station:

• Blok M Plaza
• Blok M Square
• Pasaraya Blok M
• Melawai Plaza Blok M

But that’s not all.

You can also access Museum Polri, Pasar Mayestik, Taman Ayodya and Taman Langsat by driving under 10 minutes from the station.

Blok M is not the best area to stay if you want beautiful scenery during your stay in the city. You also won’t find too many 5-star properties here. It is a bit gritty and busy for relaxation.

It is, however, ideal for travellers on a budget because it is close to the main sites while still being cheap by Jakarta standards. If convenience and affordability are your priorities, then stay here!

Top Recommendations for Staying Close to Stasiun MRT Blok M in Jakarta

As mentioned before, the number of 5-star properties within walking distance of the Blok M MRT Station are limited.

A nice 4-star option is Hotel GranDhika Iskandarsyah. Because there are so many small budget hotels close to the station, it doesn’t even rank on the ‘top 10 closest list’.

Although GranDhika isn’t at the same level as the Ritz or Raffles, it receives positive review scores from guests. At the time of writing it has a review score of 8.2/10 according to verified guests on Agoda.

This property is located to the east of Stasiun Blok M. It is beside Pasaraya Blok M. Pasaraya has one of the best selections of Indonesian-made cultural goods to check out. It is popular with visitors to Jakarta.

If you book a room at GranDhika then you will have convenient access to Kemang as well. Kemang is one of the most popular areas in the south for dining out. You will see many visitors and expats dining in Kemang (especially on weekends).

The best 5-star property near Blok M to the south is The Dharmawangsa. Check this out as well if you want to be relatively close to Blok M and Blok M MRT Station.

Budget to Mid-Range

There are lots of budget hotels near Stasiun Blok M. Actually, it’s one of the most concentrated areas for 2-3 star properties in all of Jakarta. Most of the properties don’t receive the highest review scores, however.

Always make sure you check reviews and photos of properties before booking in the Blok M area.

A popular hotel near Blok M MRT Station is Neo Hotel Melawai – Jakarta (120 m/ 2 minutes walk). It receives review scores around 7.5/10. Most visitors find the location very convenient. Very close to the station and all the malls in Blok M.

Stasiun MRT –  Blok A Accommodation Information

Not to be confused with Blok M Station, Blok A is the southern neighbour to Blok M.

Blok A Station is located about 1.3 km (17 minute walk) south of Blok M Plaza and the other malls in Blok M. Therefore, you can stay in this area and access all the shopping options in Blok M by simply taking the MRT.

The area around Stasiun Blok A is not particularly nice, even by Jakarta standards. The traffic can be heavy and the roads are quite narrow. Not the best spot for sightseeing or travelling with children. Do not expect to find many international restaurants around the station.

Try to stay closer to central Jakarta if possible or closer to Cipete Raya Station to the south.  

Most of the hotels in this area are over 1 km away from Stasiun MRT – Blok A, with the exception of a few budget choices.

With a swank retro-style and top notch service standards, the The Dharma ranks amongst the top ten 5-star hotels in Jakarta. Guests rave about the service at this property.

This property is highly recommended if you can fit it into your budget.

Budget to Mid-Range

Most of the 2 and 3-star properties near Stasiun MRT – Blok A range between 7-7.5/10 according to guest reviews.

A positively reviewed property that is only 450 meters from the station is Mansion28@Dharmawangsa (6 minute walk). It has a review score of 8/10 at the time of writing.

Guests generally like the size and comfort of the rooms at this property. It’s an added bonus that you can simply walk to it from Station Pasar Blok A!

Stasiun MRT – Haji Nawi Accommodation Information

Stasiun Haji Nawi isn’t located in a ‘picturesque’ part of Jakarta.

In general, this area along Fatmawati is usually busy with car and moto traffic. Typically tourists prefer to stay closer to central Jakarta around Stasiun Senayan, Stasiun Istora or Stasiun Bundaran HI.

If you are looking for an affordable area to stay this is one of them, however. Most of the stores and restaurants around Haji Nawi MRT Station are tailored for local shoppers where affordable prices is the priority.

The same can be said for accommodation choices in this part of the city.

Most of the hotels near Stasiun Haji Nawi are in the 2-3 star range. You can find some quality budget options but there is no five star luxury hotel within 2 km of the station or less.
